Though my home had become a fortress, it was devoid of any sustenance.
What if a patient adversary decided to lay siege for days or weeks? What would I eat?
And in the event they cut off my utilities, what would I drink, or how would I keep up with my favorite TV shows?
Crafting this golden cage only to perish from starvation or suffocation seemed like the epitome of folly.
So, I stocked up: a hundred pounds each of instant noodles and pasta, an assortment of vegetables and meats, and enough household supplies to last half a year, not to mention essential medications and plenty of bottled water.
To cover all bases, I also invested in an array of emergency canned goods and various hydroponically growable vegetables.
My room was brimming, and though exhausted, I didn't rush to rest.
I meticulously scanned every item with a metal detector, wary of the possibility that someone involved in stocking or delivering these goods could be compromised.
Thankfully, after a thorough check, everything was deemed safe.
A solar generator was installed in my spare room, and, true to form, I employed four different electronics firms to ensure its setup mirrored the diversity of my previous renovations.
As long as I was frugal, the solar power would suffice for my daily needs. But, as a precaution, I purchased three identical backup systems.
Once the workers left, I scrutinized each generator to ensure there were no hidden marks, cameras, or listening devices.
After a brief rest, I ventured out again.
