Naruto Tenseigan Reborn: Toneri's Time-Traveling Romance

Toneri and Guy sped through the forest pursuing a pair of rogue ninja who had stolen a valuable scroll from a client. As A-rank mission participants, the two Leaf shinobi pressed on with full focus despite hours on the move.

"We must be getting close," Guy said, inspecting the freshly broken branches and disturbed foliage ahead. "I can sense their chakra."

Toneri nodded, likewise picking up the chakra signatures with his enhanced vision. Then suddenly he noticed another presence rapidly approaching their flank.

"Wait...we're also being tracked," Toneri realized. "Whoever it is seems highly skilled to keep up such speed."

Guy's thick brows furrowed. "Do you think they are pursuing the rogues as well or they want to impede our mission?"

"Hard to say for sure..." Toneri formed a quick hand seal to create two shadow clones. "I'll stay on course after the targets. My clones will get to the bottom of this follower."

Guy grinned and gave a thumbs up, trusting in Toneri’s plan. The two continued their chase while the clones dropped back to handle the mysterious shinobi tailing them.

A few miles later, Toneri felt his clones dispel after a brief but intense skirmish confirming their pursuer was no ally.

"As I thought, we are being deliberately followed," Toneri affirmed. "Judging from my clone’s memories, the enemy is highly skilled, at minimum Special Jounin level."

Guy's expression turned serious as he tightened his bandages. "Understood. It seems confrontation is inevitable after we complete our main objective. But first, let us catch those rogues!"

Toneri nodded silently. The interloper had terrible timing to disrupt their critical mission. Either a foolish rogue or a coordinated distraction for something more sinister at play. In any case, the shadowy stalker would soon regret their choices once the scroll was secured.
