"Come on, Zoe, just join me for the class!"
"But our class is nowhere near as advanced as Class A..."
"The teachers are almost the same. And going back to your class... well, it's just boring."
Did he really think I wouldn't get upset? Sure, my superpower isn't the most impressive, but having it pointed out so blatantly still hurts!
I yanked my sleeve out of Blake's grasp, huffing back to class.
But before I could get far, I teleported to catch Blake again.
"Enough is enough!" I snapped, releasing him only to find him back in my arms moments later.
Frustrated and on the verge of tears, I wondered, could this passive skill be any more annoying?
After the fourth failed attempt to storm off, Blake's antics had worn me down.
"Don't be mad, Zoe." Blake tried to charm his way out, but I was unmoved.
"If you keep this up, I'll tell the teacher you're the reason I'm missing class!"
It was an empty threat, but Blake seemed intrigued, "What if the teacher not only doesn't punish me but also lets you join my classes? I really need You."
My heart raced at the thought, worried my smartwatch might alert everyone to my embarrassment.
I sidestepped subtly, "Stop joking around."
"I'm not joking with you!" Blake insisted, dead serious.
"Zoe, are you chickening out?" Eli popped up out of nowhere, a bunch of lettuce in hand.
Although I'm usually timid, I never shy away from a challenge.
"I am not! Fine, we'll bet on it! Even if you're top of the class, the teacher won't let it slide, unless he's your dad! .'
Blake just shook his head, grinning.
Somehow, I felt like I was walking into a trap.
"Deal! I'm the witness," Eli cheered, "Here's a gift for you two."
Eli tossed the lettuce into Blake's arms, and for a moment, it almost looked like a bouquet, just a very green one.
"Can we get a different color?" Blake joked, holding the lettuce that made his reflection in the windows tint green.
"Blake, you know this is all I can do for now. It's the first lettuce I've grown with my powers. Touched?"
Blake's face twitched as he reluctantly accepted the lettuce.
Eli hopped away happily, leaving Blake to hand me the unconventional bouquet. "I offer this lettuce as an apology. If you don't like it, I know someone in Class D who grows flowers."
Eli tossed the lettuce into Blake's arms, and for a moment, it almost looked like a bouquet, just a very green one.
"Because of this lettuce, I forgive you. But!" I emphasized, startling Blake.
"But what?"
"No more pretending to fall just to get hugs!"
Blake blinked, attempting to look innocent, but I stood firm.
"Alright... I'll listen to you!"
Hey, the game isn't over yet!
