"Zoe, have you ever heard of Felicia?"
Racking my brain, I drew a blank. "Nope, who's that?"
"She's a girl in our class with a pocket dimension superpower."
"You mean to say Felicia trapped me in her pocket dimension?"
That was a bizarre thought. I had no quarrel with her; why imprison me?
Blake looked uncomfortable under my gaze, fidgeting slightly.
"Could it be that Felicia has a crush on you?" I teased, taking another bite of my salad.
Blake practically leaped from his chair at the suggestion.
"No, no... We hardly know each other! Sure, she might like me, but I've never paid her any attention. We've barely spoken!"
"You know, I was the chubby kid girls avoided, except for you. Even after slimming down, I'm not used to hanging out with girls."
"So, you have talked to her?" I nudged, enjoying his discomfort.
"Zoe, believe me, you're the only one I care about, always have been," he blurted out, more seriously than intended.
The moment he said it, we both turned as red as boiled shrimp.
"Ahem." I quickly hid my grin behind my bowl.
Incredibly, the superpower class teacher agreed to let me join Class A! Utterly absurd.
"Now you've got nothing to say, right? You lost the bet!"
Blake stood beside Eli, both grinning at me.
I couldn't believe I hadn't seen through his cunning plan; he was as sly as a fox!
"Zoe, you'll be a great help to me," Blake said, trying to sound mature, but his flushed ears gave him away.
"So what if I lost a bet?" I scoffed internally.
Having a friend as smart and handsome as Blake to guide me was a win in my book!
"Congratulations," Eli magically produced a broccoli floret.
"Eli, I really appreciate it! But do you have any other flowers?" Blake asked, half-jokingly reaching out to thank him.
"Ah, Blake, you know I can only grow green veggies for now," Eli replied before making a quick exit.
Blake didn't chase after him, instead taking my hand and leading me away in a different direction.
