"If you leave, take me with you."
There was a pause before he spoke, "This isn't about leaving you behind, Florence. I can't drag you into this."
"That's no excuse. You've entered my life; you can't just selfishly walk out." She countered, placing a piece of liver onto a dish.
"Florence... It's hard being with me. I'm a vampire; I can't stay in one place for long. I'm destined to wander."
"I'm well aware of that. Don't think I haven't considered it. I've made up my mind. If you don't drain every drop of my blood, I'll take out every organ of yours."
He was taken aback, his eyes locked on hers in surprise.
"Are you... joking?"
"Do I look like I'm joking?" Her gaze was steadfast, her hand holding his kidney.
"Do you understand what that means?"
"It means I want to be with you for a lifetime. I can't bear the thought of leaving this world alone, leaving you to endure centuries of solitude. The only way to stay by your side is to become like you."
Tears welled up in her eyes, her stare intense as if she'd rather die than have him refuse.
"You need to think this through. Becoming a vampire means never seeing the daylight again, no turning back. You'll have to leave behind your friends, your familiar places, endure much pain... It's not that simple." He was restraining himself, delighted by her declaration but compelled to consider her well-being. She might not cope with a life shrouded in darkness. Passion is fleeting, but reality is eternal...
She smiled through her tears. "After you avenged my family and brought their killer to justice, I can't think of anyone else who has touched me so deeply. These past two months without you have been unbearable. I love you, Farrell. Living without the possibility of following you to the ends of the earth is more painful than death itself."
