"Let's break up. Get out of here now, pack up your stuff and get out!"

Jo shook her head desperately, tears pouring down her face like rain. Only then did I realize how strong she was, clinging tightly to my waist.

I forcibly pulled her hands away but she lunged at me again to hug me. I gritted my teeth and shoved her aside. She shrieked as she fell, the floor instantly stained red.

How could there be a nail sticking out of the bedside table? I've lived here so long and never noticed it...

Jo's face grew paler, tears still streaming down her cheeks. "I don't want to break up...don't leave me..." her voice faded away.

You fool, how could I bear to split up with you?

I held her in my arms, wailing uncontrollably. My tears had long run dry, if I cried any more I felt I would die.

Jo's body had gone cold. Her mouth was still pursed in that aggrieved way when she got upset.

I kissed her forehead, then sat on the balcony railing covered in blood.

According to fate's decree, today was not meant to be my death.

I flicked the cigarette butt. It became a small yellow dot.

Thirty-three floors down, a fall should leave no chance of survival.

What would happen if it was a paradox?

I spread my arms and leapt off, the weightless sensation lasting longer than imagined. The ground rushed up in slow motion, I could even make out each passerby's expression - some afraid, some panicked, some hurriedly whipping out their phones.

In the distance, the morning sun still refused to emerge, leaving the world in murky twilight.
