Today marks the day of the final showdown, and I've meticulously prepared by gathering all the holy water, talismans, and other supernatural repellents I had accumulated.
I left no stone unturned – the security door, windows, curtains, kitchen, bathroom, the mirrors, toilet, mattress, the array of weapons I'd procured, the floors, and the ceilings.
Every conceivable spot was sanctified with crosses, holy water, and talismans, each item receiving at least two different types of protective symbols. This thorough approach ensured that no tampering with my spiritual arsenal could occur.
I couldn't help but commend myself for such ingenuity.
After completing these rituals, the hunger from skipping lunch began to assert itself. I had preemptively set aside a burger, which I quickly warmed in the microwave until it was steaming hot and ready to be devoured on the table.
Despite my hunger, I didn't rush to eat. I first pulled out toxin detection kits from the pharmacy bag and meticulously tested the food to ensure it was free from any harmful substances before I finally allowed myself to eat.
Just then, a notification popped up on my phone.
My friend, Julie: "Guess where I am now?"
Julie: [Picture]
Julie: "I'm at your place! Surprise or what?"
I paused, chopsticks in hand, then swiped away the message and continued eating.
To this day, I couldn't fathom why Julie harbored such animosity towards me, especially after a friendship spanning over a decade.
Julie had twice saved me from ruthless killers and exposed numerous lies from the neighbors, pulling the protagonist back from the brink of death.
I have immense trust in her, up until they were hiding from a killer in a confined space.
The shadow of Julie cast on the door suddenly took on a menacing form, and I stared with wide eyes, too terrified to make a sound.
Be it human, demon, or ghost, nothing can breach the sanctity of my fortress.
With that reassuring thought, I let out a satisfied burp.
Now, well-fed, I was ready to watch the drama unfold.
