"Damn, it's like we're haunted! How come we can send messages on WhatsApp but can't make emergency calls?"

I tried my phone too, with no luck on making calls, and even the satellite phone wouldn't work.

Communication within the building was fine, but nothing could get out. This wasn't something a signal jammer could achieve.

Only my "friend" could possibly have done this.

Julie: "Wendy, what did you do? Are you still in your room? Do you know the murderer has created a group chat claiming you're a female ghost?"

After reading Julie's message, I checked the group chat, and indeed, the once active discussion had died down.

Julie: "Something's off. The original property manager posted a video, but I saw him dead!"

She sent a screenshot and a video clip.

The video featured the young property manager, dressed in casual clothes, explaining that a new manager was starting today and encouraged residents to get acquainted with him.

The screenshot was from a separate group chat created by the murderer and some residents, where they discussed the building's eerie occurrences and the terrifying images seen through the peephole.

Initially skeptical, the residents gradually found themselves unable to refute the murderer's claims and, in panic, turned to him for help.

The last message in the screenshot was from the murderer, stating his intention to visit the resident of 603 before heading to my apartment to investigate.

Checking the time, I realized it was probably too late to warn them now.

Julie: "This murderer is too cunning. Wendy, we're safer together. I'm coming to you; please open the door. Now's not the time for stubbornness!"

Me: "Why?"

Julie: "What do you mean 'why'? Isn't it obvious? How can you be so dense!"
