I was utterly taken aback. Moments ago, the brash robbers turned into groveling wrecks at my feet, untying me.
The delivery guy, head bleeding from his fervent bowing, pleaded for mercy, citing family responsibilities. Meanwhile, the burly thug was a mess of tears and snot, confessing his addiction to online gaming and his naive quest for in-game purchases.
Reclining on the sofa, soaked in sweat and shock, I realized the life-and-death gamble had confirmed my theory.
I wanted nothing to do with them. I grabbed a towel to cover my wound, gestured for them to leave, and they scrambled out, leaving everything behind.
Retrieving the note from the trash, a thrilling thought struck me: could I alter my own destiny?
I tried writing on the note:
"Today, you'll win $50 million, then quit your job."
"Today, your boss will meet his end in a car accident, and you'll take over his position."
"Today, you'll encounter celebrities at your doorstep, wanting to spend time with you..."
Unfortunately, no matter the pen or the words, the ink vanished within a minute. Attempts to erase the original message were equally futile.
Intriguing.
Next, I set up cameras opposite the fridge, linked to my phone for 24/7 live footage, hoping to catch any tampering.
After a week of meticulous review, not a single anomaly appeared. The notes seemed to materialize out of thin air.
Driven by this enigma, I embarked on a series of wild endeavors, beyond anyone's wildest imaginings.
