"How can you say it's nothing? Can't you see she's in tears?"

Grace stood protectively beside me, her voice stern as she confronted the others.

"I'm really sorry; we didn't mean to. Are you okay? Do you need to visit the nurse's office?"

The apology from the opposing students sounded sincere. I quickly wiped my tears and tugged at Grace's sleeve, "Um, no, it's okay. Let's skip the nurse's office..."

Three tall boys stood opposite us, and I was too shy to keep looking at them. I grabbed Grace's hand, ready to leave.

"Hey, miss?" A teasing voice called from behind. "Sorry about hitting you just now. Guess my skill is 'hitting the mark with beauties'!"

The joke triggered laughter among the spectators.

My head buzzed, realizing how infamous I'd become, seemingly known by the whole school.

A sharp "snap" followed by a yelp, "Blake, you hit me again! What if you knock some sense into me?"

"Less talking!" The voice was stern yet polite, likely one of the three. I couldn't help but turn back, curious about his appearance.

He had sharp features but gentle eyes, probably from scolding his friend just now, leaving a trace of sternness on his face.

"Don't you know him?" It was the jokester from before.

"No, I don't." Should I know him?

""Ah, he said he knows you." The jokester, clearly an extrovert, cleared his throat and began, "Let me introduce you. Ahem... This is Sean Quinn; you can call him Quinn. And I'm Eli Young, just call me Eli."

Eli's gesture finally pointed to the previously stern-faced boy, "And this is Blake Carson, but you can call him..."

"Carson?" I ventured.

"Carson! Haha, right on, Carson it is!" Eli laughed uncontrollably, while Sean tried hard to suppress his amusement.

Wait, Blake Carson! It suddenly hit me like a runaway train.
