After more than a year of courses at the Galactic Academy, Zoe and Blake had become close friends, sharing an unspoken understanding, even though Zoe couldn't recall any of their past memories.
On Valentine's Day, Zoe woke up to the world spinning, a familiar sensation signaling Blake's arrival, but this time in a more delicate pose that could easily be mistaken for a prelude to a kiss from a bird's-eye view.
Pushing him away, Zoe's irritation surfaced, tired of the random summons. "What now, Blake?"
"I wanted to ask you something," Blake started hesitantly.
"What is it?"
"Would you... be my girlfriend?"
Zoe hesitated, her heart racing, unable to respond.
"Silence means consent, right? So, can I kiss you?" Without waiting for an answer, Blake gently pressed his lips against hers.
Their inexperienced kiss, brief and awkward, left Zoe flustered and indignant. "My first kiss! And before I even agreed! And I haven't brushed my teeth!"
Blake grinned cheekily, "Just preparing you mentally."
Zoe, feeling betrayed by Blake's mischievous side, pinched his waist in retaliation.
His suggestive whisper in her ear sent her heart into overdrive, her face flushing with heat.
"Everyone calls you Zoe; should I do the same? Wouldn't that just make me like everyone else?"
Curiosity got the better of Zoe, despite knowing it was a trap. "What would you prefer to call me, then?"
Blake pondered theatrically before suggesting, "How about 'wife'?"
Zoe's reaction was swift—a playful flick on his forehead. "It's only the first day, Blake!"
Attempting to steer the conversation away from their playful banter, Zoe remembered the pressing issue at hand—the rumors of an alien species from the Tarksha Cluster posing a threat.
"The greater our powers, the greater our responsibilities," Zoe mused, the lighthearted mood shifting as they considered the gravity of their future challenges.
As they navigated their feelings and the responsibilities of their abilities, Zoe and Blake realized that together, they were stronger, ready to face any challenge the galaxy might throw their way.
