Living together day and night, Florence found herself growing accustomed to relying on Farrell, a habit that formed without her even realizing it.

With Farrell's constant protection, she no longer faced any attacks, enjoying a peace she hadn't known for years. Though her leave was forced by safety concerns, having Farrell, a man of substance and wisdom, by her side made her days feel like an endless honeymoon, filled with joy.

This respite ended abruptly with a call from David, who excitedly informed her that the police had identified the mastermind behind the attacks on her: a well-known member of parliament. For reasons unknown, his underlings had turned against him, confessing to the police that they had been hired to kill her because of a forensic case she was handling, which threatened to expose the MP's secret drug trafficking ties with the underworld, aimed at funding his long-term political campaigns.

But the shocks didn't stop there. David revealed that the investigation into the MP had unearthed connections to an international crime syndicate responsible for a past bombing, blamed on terrorists to divert police attention due to the high casualty count.

The case was one of the most sensational and baffling the police had ever solved, with solid evidence and confessions, including that of the MP himself. The criminals' surprising willingness to cooperate, almost too compliant to be true, puzzled everyone. The police speculated that drug-induced confusion might have led to their voluntary confessions.

After hanging up, Florence was stunned for a long time, nearly losing track of time in her shock.

It was Farrell! After hearing David's account, she realized that he was behind it all, explaining his nightly absences as he pursued the culprits, keeping it from her to spare her worry.

Overwhelmed, she touched her chest, tears streaming down her face. Even though it was daylight, she couldn't wait to rush into his arms.
