"I'd rather recover slowly if it means getting more of your special treatment."
"In your dreams."
He laughed heartily, clearly enjoying their flirtation immensely, his serious injuries not dampening his spirits in the slightest.
Florence, though not showing it on her face, was actually quite worried about him, afraid he was just putting on a brave face. He had been severely injured the day before, and although drinking blood had healed his face, the burns below his neck remained severe.
"Aren't vampires supposed to have regenerative abilities? Why is it that only your facial skin has healed, and the rest hasn't?"
"Do you really think I'm that miraculous? These are severe burns. Plus, it's the waning moon phase now, when lunar gravity is at its weakest. I won't fully recover until the full moon. Of course, I could heal faster if—" He flashed that dangerously charming smile again, his eyes shimmering with an unusual light, shifting between blue and red.
"Unless what?" she lifted her head.
"Unless you let me bite you." He was ready to bolt, just in case a syringe or a clove of garlic came flying at him.
Other people couldn't threaten him with such taboo objects because he could just hypnotize them with his gaze, making them swallow the garlic or stick the syringe into their own rear.
Nothing happened!
He waited for what seemed like ages, but no flying syringe came his way, which was surprising.
"My blood can help you recover quickly?" she asked.
He raised an eyebrow. "I've told you, your blood is very pure, one in a million. The purer the blood, the more strength it gives me."
She thought for a moment and then asked, "If you drink my blood, will I become a vampire?"
"No, not unless I inject my blood into you before your heart stops beating. Only then would you turn into a vampire."
"I see..."
"So, you're not suddenly feeling generous enough to let me—bite, are you?" His grin widened into a mischievous curve.
"Fine, you can have my blood," she said.
Her casual agreement stunned him.
Suddenly, he pulled her into his arms, and in the next moment, his gaze and his breath emitted an intense, bewitching charm.
"You said it," he whispered.
She swallowed hard, still overwhelmed by this side of him despite their time together, his presence stirring her heart into a flutter.
