In the sterile environment of the lab, the assistant, clad in a white coat, meticulously recorded data, his brows furrowed in concern. He occasionally glanced at Professor Jiang, who appeared weighed down by the gravity of their work. "Compile the experimental data; I need to analyze it for our next steps," Professor Jiang instructed, adjusting several figures on his screen.
The assistant hesitated, his voice tinged with uncertainty, "Professor, are we certain about continuing? The subject, codenamed Shan Yue, has already undergone 182 failed hypnotherapy sessions. There's substantial evidence to suggest that this approach isn't yielding results."
This experiment's cruelty weighed heavily on the assistant's conscience. Subject Shan Yue had been subjected to 182 hypnoses, each implanting different memories, often culminating in tragic ends. This time, the subject was made to believe in a fabricated life, complete with a spouse and a past marred by an accident, further intensified by voice prompts mimicking her own, initially intended to reinforce the false memories.
"Assistant Zhao, focus on the task. While hypnotherapy failed, the memory implantation succeeded. Do you understand the significance of this?" Professor Jiang's gaze was commanding, his smile chilling.
The assistant could only nod, silenced by the professor's authority. Professor Jiang, satisfied, reminded him to send over the presentation for a final review before his upcoming television interview.
On the crime psychology show, Professor Jiang, impeccably groomed and poised, advocated for a cycle of death for heinous criminals to experience their victims' pain and despair. "We must strive to perfect brain chip technology," he asserted, discussing the potential to prevent crimes through enhanced understanding and control of criminal minds.
Meanwhile, in the lab, the subject known as Shan Yue awakened once again, caught in the relentless cycle of Professor Jiang's experiments, her reality a construct of his design.
