As Wendys regained consciousness, her eyes filled with hatred and resentment towards Azrael. The sight of her loathing gaze pierced his heart like a thousand needles, yet he knew that to save her, he had no choice but to make her despise him. If Wendys were to learn the truth, she would surely crumble, losing all will to live and succumbing to the fallen angel's complete control. Azrael understood that only through her hatred could she find the strength to survive. As long as his beloved student could live on, he was willing to bear the burden of all the sins and accusations that would come his way.
Outside the Mind-reading Crystal, Wendys Lumina, the High Priestess, watched with tears in her eyes as the truth unfolded before her. She finally understood that every action her master had taken, no matter how cruel or heartless it seemed, was done to save her from the curse that had consumed her. Yet, who could truly comprehend the depths of Azrael's suffering? He had endured countless accusations, shouldered the weight of countless sins, and faced the betrayal of all his students, only to find himself sealed away by the Divine Prohibition Spell. Wendys couldn't begin to imagine the torment Azrael had endured over the years.
Zephyr Galewind, the Wind Saint, pointed an accusing finger at Wendys, his voice filled with rage. "This is all your fault, Wendys!" he shouted. "If it weren't for you, our master would never have been tainted by the fallen angel's evil power. He would never have become the Abyssal Mage Emperor. Everything that has happened is because of you!"
The gathered mages and warriors murmured amongst themselves, their eyes wide with astonishment as they began to recognize the tragic twists of fate that had entwined Azrael's life with the villainous persona they had come to despise. Slowly, they started to see the man behind the monster, a kind and gentle soul who had been forced to make impossible choices in the face of unimaginable adversity. Their hearts heavy with the realization of Azrael's tragic life. They had come to despise the Abyssal Mage Emperor, the one who had brought suffering and chaos to the world, but they now saw that he was not the same as the kind and gentle Azrael they had once known. Fate had been cruel, intertwining the two identities in a twisted dance of destiny.
Calista Silverleaf, the Elven Queen, watched the scene unfold with a sense of disbelief. She had hoped to expose Azrael's wickedness, to show the world the depths of his depravity, but instead, she found herself witnessing an outpouring of sympathy and admiration for the man she had once considered her enemy. It was a bitter pill to swallow.
Alice Emberflare, the Empress of Flames, strode up to Wendys, her eyes gleaming with cold amusement. "Well, well, High Priestess," she sneered. "Now that you know the truth, how does it feel? To know that your beloved master sacrificed everything for you?"
Wendys furrowed her brow, trying to recall when she had ever crossed paths with Alice Emberflare. The Empress had been targeting her from the moment she arrived, and Wendys couldn't help but wonder if it had something to do with Azrael. To uncover the truth behind Ember's animosity and her connection to Azrael, Wendys knew she would have to delve deeper into the memories contained within the Mind-reading Crystal.
Inside the crystal, Wendys watched as her past self awakened once more, her heart shattered by the realization that her actions had led to the deaths of her parents and the destruction of her village. She wept uncontrollably, knowing that it was too late to change the past. The man she had once loved, the kind and gentle Azrael, was now nothing more than a cold and ruthless stranger in her eyes. Perhaps this was his true nature, and everything else had been a mere facade.
Azrael, seeing the determination in Wendys' eyes, couldn't help but smile. He turned to leave, his parting words echoing in the air. "Live well, Wendys. I will borrow the power of the angel within you to heal my wounds." As he stepped out the door, he intentionally left the key on the table, giving Wendys the chance to escape.
And so, Wendys Lumina fled, leaving Azrael alone with his thoughts and his pain. As the weight of his sacrifice crashed down upon him, Azrael collapsed to the ground, his tears falling like rain. Azrael wept, his anguished sobs echoing through the empty halls of his refuge. The agony he felt was beyond description, a burden that few could ever truly understand. Alone and utterly devastated,
Watching Azrael's breakdown, Wendys Lumina, now the High Priestess, wept openly, the depths of her master's love for her finally becoming clear. Zephyr Galewind, however, was not moved by the revelation. He lashed out at Wendys, his words dripping with venom. "You heartless, ungrateful woman!" he snarled. "After everything our master has done for you, you still can't find it in yourself to appreciate his sacrifice. You truly are a viper in human form!"
Wendys trembled with rage at Zephyr's cruel accusations. Her anger reached a boiling point, and with a single gesture, the skies darkened, and a massive, holy spear materialized above her. With a cry of fury, she hurled the spear at the Divine Prohibition Spell that held Azrael captive.
But just as the spear was about to strike, a thunderous roar filled the air. Calista Silverleaf, the Elven Queen, had been watching from her lofty perch, and she would not allow Wendys to interfere. "How dare you try to rescue him under my nose!" she bellowed, her eyes flashing with barely contained rage. She had seen through Wendys' intentions, her keen eyes detecting the High Priestess's attempt to liberate Azrael from his magical bonds, and she would not let such treachery go unchallenged.
It seemed that Wendys, too, had been planning to free Azrael from his magical prison, but her efforts had been thwarted by Calista's keen observation.
