Kaito's phone buzzed with a message from Hiroshi, sparking a sense of dread that he couldn't shake. "Fans have a lead on an old electronics factory. They used to make those weird phones like yours. We should check it out!" Hiroshi's enthusiasm was evident in his message, but Kaito knew the danger that lurked within the ghost phone's secrets.
"Hiroshi, you sure about exploring the abandoned electronics factory? It's not like our usual haunts," Kaito replied, his fingers trembling over the phone.
"Come on, Kaito. Think of the views! Abandoned places are trending now," Hiroshi responded.
"It's dangerous, and there might be more than just broken machines there," Kaito warned.
"You mean ghosts? Please, they don't exist. It's perfect for our next stream," Hiroshi laughed off the idea. Kaito's heart sank. He had yet to reveal the true nature of his ghost phone to Hiroshi.
Despite Kaito's misgivings and a foreboding message from Aiko urging him not to enter the factory, he found himself standing at its ominous entrance with Hiroshi. "Perfect place for a horror movie, isn't it, Kaito?" Hiroshi joked.
"This place gives me the creeps," Kaito muttered as they entered.
"It's just an old building, Kaito. Great atmosphere for the stream," Hiroshi reassured.
"We should be careful. I've felt strange things recently," Kaito cautioned.
"It's just the thrill of adventure, Kaito!"
As they ventured inside, the oppressive silence of the abandoned factory was suffocating. The usual creaks and groans of an old building were eerily absent, replaced by a stillness that felt like the calm before a storm.
In certain areas, Kaito noticed their shadows were bizarrely inverted. This phenomenon distorted their perception, turning their exploration into a disorienting experience.
In the depths of the factory, the air turned icy cold.
"The temperature just dropped suddenly," Kaito shivered.
"It's an old building, bound to have drafts," Hiroshi reasoned.
"No, it's something else. Feels... supernatural," Kaito insisted.
"You've been watching too many horror movies. It's all in your head," Hiroshi scoffed.
A creeping sensation grew within Kaito, a feeling of being followed by something unseen, a shadow that grew more menacing with each step.
But there was no sound, no visible figure—only an ominous shadow that seemed to grow larger and more defined with each step they took. It lurked just at the edge of their vision, a persistent, menacing presence.
Kaito's fears escalated as shadows danced in the corners of his eyes.
"There's something moving in the shadows," he whispered.
"Probably just our shadows. The light here is weird," Hiroshi rationalized.
Hiroshi, focused on his live stream, remained oblivious to the lurking danger. "Check this out, viewers! This place is seriously creepy," he narrated, not noticing the sinister shadow drawing closer to him.
Hiroshi, pausing to frown at his camera, asked Kaito, "Are you seeing this?" pointing to the screen where their shadows danced unnaturally. Before Kaito could answer, a chilling transformation occurred.
A shadow loomed over Hiroshi. "Hiroshi, look out!" Kaito screamed. Hiroshi's shadow began to merge with a darker, more ominous one. His face twisted in confusion and terror as his body convulsed violently. Kaito, in a desperate attempt to save his friend. The AI, silent until now, suddenly flickered to life, emitting a blinding light that severed the connection between Hiroshi and the shadow. But it was too late. Hiroshi lay still, his body twisted grotesquely, his head turned a full 180 degrees, wearing an eerie, unnatural smile.
Panic-stricken, Kaito realized the live stream had been an illusion, the screen showing only static. As he tried to escape, the ghost phone buzzed, displaying a map with an escape route. Following the AI's guidance, Kaito fled the factory, the haunting image of Hiroshi's final, twisted smile etched into his memory.
Outside, Hiroshi's earlier words echoed hollowly in Kaito's mind. "That was intense. But it'll make for great content!" The truth was far more sinister. What they had witnessed was not for views or entertainment. It was a harrowing brush with the supernatural, a dangerous reality that Kaito could no longer ignore.
